Evening Standard

You’d be forgiven if you didn’t think this quote was describing London. The quote is describing Neverland London, a Thames-side beach open for the summer in Fulham. If you are looking to combine city and sand, add London to your August list.

Once you’re done putting your feet up at the beach and are ready to to hit the town, our August favourites include the best of film, music and the infamous Notting Hill Carnival.

Film:

Luna Cinema is showing outdoor movies throughout the summer. Don’t forget to bring a blanket as you watch your favourite films at London’s Historic Palaces.

Notting Hill Carnival (25 – 27 August):

Running over the bank holiday weekend, the Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s biggest street party. The carnival celebrates London’s Caribbean communities with a parade, live music and a plethora of traditional foods. The main parade will be on the Monday, although if you have little ones, Sunday is the designated family day.
