Outdoorsy Things to do in London in Summer

With the warmer weather upon us once again, locals and visitors to London want to get out and about and explore the many green spaces and outdoor attractions on offer. Today we’re going to share some of our favourite outdoorsy things to do in London for visitors of all ages. Our central London hotels will make the ideal base for a trip to London this summer, and we highly recommend staying near King’s Cross St. Pancras if you are looking for a convenient central location for your stay.

Explore Hyde Park

Hyde Park is somewhere you could easily spend half a day exploring and is the perfect outdoorsy activity for the whole family. Take a moment out of your busy London itinerary to visit the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain or the Holocaust memorial garden, which is the first of its kind in Britain. From there, it’s time to take to the water by hiring a pedalo on Serpentine Lake. Finish off your visit with a picnic lunch or tea while any kids you are travelling with run around and let off some steam.

Visit Regent’s Park and London Zoo

Another of our favourite London parks is Regent’s Park, which you might want to combine with a visit to the London Zoo. The zoo is incredibly popular in the summer, and for adults visiting the city, consider booking one of the Zoo Nights which run throughout the summer. After your time in the zoo, explore Regent’s Park and the beautiful Queen Mary’s Garden. It has over 12,000 roses on display from 85 different varieties. You can continue your day out on the boating lake, where you can enjoy a leisurely boat ride.

Walk Along Regent’s Canal

Another option in this area and one that’s convenient for our King’s Cross St. Pancras hotel is a walk along Regent’s Canal. You’ll see Little Venice, Camden, Regent’s Park, London Zoo and Camden Lock on this walk, but of course you can make it as long as you would like based on the free time you have. Stop off in Camden for lunch or dinner and enjoy watching people on the water making the most of the summer weather.

Summer on the Thames

While you might not think of the Thames as one of the greenest spots in London, it has some great outdoorsy activities for visitors to enjoy. Hire a Santander Cycle and head on a tour along the Thames or book a guided tour if you want someone else to do the navigating. In the evening, book a river tour along the Thames, many of which come with dinner included. For a more thrilling adventure, a kayak tour along the Thames will provide you with a unique view of the city and create memories to look back on for many years.

The summer months are the perfect time to get outside and enjoy many of the beautiful parks and outdoorsy activities on offer in London. Our London hotels are centrally located and you can easily get the tube or bus to any of the places we’ve shared here today.
