What is Notting Hill Carnival?

Notting Hill Carnival was first started back in 1966 by London’s Caribbean communities. It’s now one of the longest running street parties globally and celebrates freedom and the Caribbean culture. The parade itself showcases a variety of music and dancing, including steel bands, calypso and soca.

When is Notting Hill Carnival in 2024?

This year, Notting Hill Carnival will take place during the August Bank Holiday weekend with the key events running on Sunday, August 25th and Monday, August 26th. The opening ceremony kicks things off on the first day at 10 am. On the Sunday and Monday, the static soundsystems are running throughout the parade route from Noon to 7 pm. The Adult’s Day Parade runs on the Monday from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm.

During this time, you can expect the streets to be taken over by loud soundsystems, elaborate floats, incredible costumes and delicious Caribbean food. Every year, you’ll find surprise guests join in the fun of the parade, with past celebrities who’ve attended including Sean Paul and Beyoncé. These types of guests are either surprises or very last minute announcements, so we are excited to learn more about the 2024 event as it draws closer.
