Wimbledon is one of the most exciting sporting events in the calendar each year in London. With the tournament fast approaching, we’re here to share our guide to everything you need to know about enjoying the world’s finest tennis competition. Let’s take a look at how you can plan a day out at Wimbledon and our top tips and tricks for anyone staying in the city during this time.
Wimbledon 2023
Wimbledon takes place this year from July 3rd to July 16th. The main tickets were already allocated last year via the ticket ballot, but you still have a chance to experience the tournament via The Queue. This offers you the chance to wait in line for a day pass for the Grounds or Show Courts. The price for Grounds passes starts as low as £27. You’ll be able to enjoy exploring the area and viewing the big screen games, as well as enjoying games on select outer courts. However, to have the best chance of getting in, you’ll want to arrive before 9 am. Otherwise, you may find a very long line, as many people even opt to camp out overnight in order to have a chance of getting into Wimbledon.
Getting to Wimbledon
Wimbledon can easily be accessed from any of our central London hotels, as it’s a short tube ride from most places to Wimbledon station. As you can imagine, prices for hotels within the local area are crazy during this time, so you are much better off staying with us and also being able to experience other events and attractions in the city at the same time. The sooner you can book your stay, the better chance you have of being able to enjoy this experience this July.
The Wimbledon Experience
A day out at Wimbledon is one you will remember forever. Even with a Grounds ticket, you can enjoy sitting on The Hill and taking in the action on the big screen. Take a visit to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis museum, which is included with your pass. You can enjoy seeing where Roger Federer sat before his match once and other tennis memorabilia. Strawberries and cream are a classic Wimbledon treat which will be the perfect afternoon pick-me-up after a long morning waiting to get in. Make sure you pace yourself during your day, so that you take some breaks so you don’t find yourself too exhausted by the end of the day.
