The summer is nearly here, and there’s no better time to start getting outside and reconnecting with nature. After the long winter months, many of London’s outdoor sites are starting to get more attention again. When staying at our Mabledon Court Hotel in King’s Cross, you’ll be spoilt for choice of local attractions which allow you to spend time outside in nature. Let’s take a look at a few of our favourite places in London which we recommend adding to any trip itinerary this summer.

Regent’s Park

One of London’s most popular green spaces is Regent’s Park, which is home to the world-famous London Zoo. You can enjoy strolling along Regent’s Canal to the park when spending time here and making the most of the good weather we often see in the summer months. It’s one of the Royal Parks of London and is spread over 410 acres. Between here and Primrose Hill, you’ll find gardens, playgrounds and sports facilities to explore to keep visitors of all ages entertained.

London Zoo

London Zoo is a great attraction in Regent’s Park for visitors of all ages. Kids and teens will love seeing the many animals on display here, including the Reptile House where Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was filmed. For adults, we recommend checking out the Zoo Nights in June and July, where the zoo is open just for adults in the evening time. You can easily spend three or four hours exploring everything here, but it’s best enjoyed on a day with good weather due to the many outdoor exhibits.

Handyside Gardens in King’s Cross

King’s Cross is an area that has undergone a huge amount of development over the past years. One newer green space you can enjoy getting some fresh air in is Handyside Gardens. This small park is located close to Granary Square and the canal, and you’ll find plenty of places to sit and a children’s play area. The design of the gardens is inspired by the past and the present of the railway and the area was beautifully landscaped by Dan Pearson Studio.
